Murals and Retail Transform Former Inwood Design Center into Inwood Design District

If art heals the soul and serves as inspiration for design and beauty, then your soul needs to look no further than the Inwood Design District. This past week, M2G Ventures unveiled months of work that have gone into the launch of The Art Docks, a large-scale mural installation that is part of the ongoing transformation of the area.

The former Inwood Design Center, a 14-building complex located along Conveyor Lane just off Inwood Road near the Dallas Design District, was purchased by M2G Ventures in 2025 and is now being redeveloped into a mixed-use campus with two components: the Inwood Design District, which includes showroom and light industrial space, and Ace on Inwood, a four-building retail and restaurant destination facing Inwood Road.

The project is not to be confused with the Dallas Design Center on Stemmons Freeway, though both are located within the broader Dallas Design District area.

Installed along the exterior walls throughout the campus are the 18 murals that make up The Art Docks, totaling nearly 20,000 square feet along Conveyor Lane and Security Drive.

The murals range from the futuristic to the figurative with themes that include nature, people, and the American West. Together, they transform what was once a largely industrial corridor into an outdoor gallery and one of the most visible elements of the district’s redevelopment.

“By investing in local and regional talent alongside their global peers, we are creating a soul for the built environment that resonates with our tenants and neighbors alike,” said Jessica Miller Essl, co-founder of M2G Ventures.

Ace on Inwood Will Do Your Soul Good

Ace on Inwood, the retail and restaurant portion of the redevelopment, is intended to bring more visitors to the area by adding dining, retail, and service businesses to the campus’s existing showroom and light industrial tenants. The retail district spans about 109,000 square feet across four buildings, with suites ranging in size.

With visibility along Inwood Road, the area is well-positioned with quick access to Downtown Dallas, Uptown, the Medical District, Pegasus Park, and Love Field. The goal is to create a walkable destination where visitors can shop, grab a bite, and enjoy the public artwork in one place.

Integrating Artwork is Nothing New for M2G Ventures

The Art Docks builds on earlier artistic efforts at the property. In late 2025, M2G Ventures invited Jan Riggins and Naomi Haverland, both known for their 3D chalk mural work, to collaborate on a four-panel installation that introduced elements of nature and whimsy to the campus and helped establish the district’s creative identity.

“At M2G, we don’t view art as an afterthought. Instead, it is a foundational pillar of our development strategy,” Essl said. “Our history proves that ‘deep placemaking’ only works when it is authentic.”

The Art Docks builds directly upon that momentum, serving as the crown jewel of the area’s revitalization and reinvigorating walls that have remained untouched for more than 20 years. This follows the firm’s Inspiration Alley in Fort Worth’s Foundry District, created in 2017, which helped establish M2G Ventures’ approach to incorporating public art into industrial and commercial redevelopment projects.
